Have a question? We’d love to speak with you!

We are often asked questions about new roofing, re-roofing and roof repair. Here are the answers to a few frequently asked questions that we run into from our clients! If you are ready for a roof repair, roof replacement, chimney repair, metal roof, gutter system or insurance claim, give our office a call at 317-342-4050 or email [email protected] today!

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes, Bryant Roofing Systems (BRS) stands behind our workmanship by delivering a 10-year warranty on all roof replacement labor.  We can offer an extended warranty on workmanship, please ask us!

Our shingle manufacturer partners offer Lifetime Limited Warranties on their products.  BRS will register your shingle warranty upon completion of your project.  The shingle manufacturer will email or mail a warranty packet for your records.

Do you work with insurance?

Yes, we work with all insurance companies directly, representing your best interest, beginning onsite with your insurance claim adjuster.  Our insurance claims specialist worked for 8 years as an insurance adjuster and knows everything that you don’t know about how to get the most from your claim.  We will save you time and stress by dealing directly with your insurance company, helping you to maximize the monetary value of your claim.

Do you require money upfront?

No, we email an invoice after the job is complete and our customers are satisfied.  Payment is due within 7 business days after we email the invoice.

Can I pay with credit card?

Yes, we accept all major credit cards.  A 3.5% charge will be applied for credit card processing.

Do I have shingle damage?

Shingle damage can occur as a result of storms (wind, hail); poor or improper attic ventilation; extreme heat/extreme cold; and due to manufacturer defects.

In order to determine the true condition of your shingles, we need to conduct a roof inspection.  BRS offers free roof inspections and free estimates.  Please submit a request via the Free Estimates form, or call us at 317-342-4050.

What type of shingles do you use?

We use dimensional or architectural shingles carrying at least a Lifetime Limited Warranty against manufacturer defects; a 10-year algae-resistant warranty; and a wind-damage warranty against wind gusts up to 130mph.

We don’t feel obligated to use one shingle manufacturer like some of our major competitors.  However, we believe strongly in products offered by the following manufacturers, Malarkey Roofing, Atlas Roofing, Owens Corning, GAF, and Mule-Hide Co.

How do you calculate the area of my roof?

We measure roofs in ‘squares’.  A ‘square’ is a 10’ x 10’ section.  So a roof that is 30 squares would be 3,000 square feet.  We also need to account for waste.  Waste accounts for the “extra” materials needed (starter shingles, ice and water shield, etc) to install a proper roofing system on more complex roofs.  So a plain gable roof would require less waste than a plain hip and ridge style.  And a cutup roof of either style would require more waste than the corresponding plain roof style.  Finally, we combine estimated waste and number of squares to produce a reliable measure of roof area, by which we calculate estimated cost to replace or repair your roof.

What are my options if I decide to reroof?

You have 2 options: a) a full roof replacement OR b) a re-cover of the existing roof.

A roof replacement means that your entire existing roof system be redone. This involves a roof “tearoff” of your existing roof and is a complete roof replacement process. The cost of a reroof depends on the type of shingle, style and warranty/durability you choose. Talk to your local roofing professionals to get advice on what best suits your needs and your budget.

A re-cover of your roof system is the less demanding option. This process involves only installing a new roof, meaning that it is a far more expedient and cost-friendly re-roofing option. However, building code requirements do not always allow for multiple re-roofs so if you’ve done this more than once before, then you may need a complete roof replacement. Talk to your local Indiana roofing company to ask about local building code requirements.

Do I need to completely replace a leaky roof?

Let’s face it, a leaking roof is a never a good thing to have. However, a leaking roof does not necessarily mean that it is time for a roof replacement. How much roof repair work needs to be done on your roof depends on the level of damage caused by the leak. Talking to a local roof professional is the best way to know whether only minor repair OR a full roof replacement is necessary.

There are many problems that can lead to roof leaking, which is why it’s important to inspect your roof periodically and check for common warning signs. You can perform this inspection yourself, but it is a good idea to hire a professional roofing company at least once a year to check for any serious roof problems.

How long can I expect my new roof to last?

The life expectancy of the average roof  is 20 years.

The life span of a roof is determined by a number of factors, like: roof design, building structure, material quality, material suitability, proper installation, periodic maintenance, and local climate. Roof material quality is especially important because some roof types such as clay tile, slate and (certain) metal roofing systems can last longer.

When choosing the materials for a new roof (or when hiring an Indiana roofing company, make sure to check the warranties on the materials. Most roofing manufacturers offer warranties on their products and you should be wary of any manufacturer that doesn’t.
